Marine algae exist in great abundance in oceans and freshwater lakes. The 25,000 species known to man are grouped into four families: red, brown, blue or green algae. Marine algae are the most basic of organisms, yet they are one of the richest natural sources of minerals, vitamins, amino acids and trace elements.
