| 9. I am a professional hair stylist and my client has an irritated sensitive scalp; is there a specific recommendation? Yes. Prior to relaxing the hair, conduct a hair and scalp analysis. If this is your regular client you may have an understanding if this individual has a very sensitive scalp. Although PhytoRelaxer has been proven to be very gentle, if there are any "tender" areas (scalp abrasions, irritation, redness, pimples, etc.), apply pre-care balm to those areas to act as an emollient burrier. Generally you don't want to further irritate a sensitive area, therefore, it may be best to treat the scalp condition with the appropriate products from the PhytoSpecific and Phyto lines or discontinue service until the scalp is healthier. It's not recommended to use PhytoRelaxer or non-thio relaxers (Sodium, Lithium, Potassium, Calcium Hydroxides) over hair previously treated with thio based products (Japanese or Thermal Reconditioning). Back to Top

Use as much product as necessary to neutralize the hair. Ideally, leave the first neutralizing shampoo on the hair 3-5 minutes, rinse and repeat until neutralized. | 28. I need to color my hair, should I do this before or after relaxing it? If you applied a permanent color, wait a few weeks before relaxing your hair. The hair maybe colored the day of the relaxer ONLY if the hair color product does not contain any ammonia or peroxides.
