PhytoRelaxer, as any other non-lye and lye relaxer, is not compatible with thio based strengtheners and thermal reconditioners. Even if you had the thermal reconditioning service a while ago, applying a lye or non-lye relaxer would be like virtual scissors to your hair.

| | 9. I am a professional hair stylist and my client has an irritated sensitive scalp; is there a specific recommendation?
Yes. Prior to relaxing the hair, conduct a hair and scalp analysis. If this is your regular client you may have an understanding if this individual has a very sensitive scalp. Although PhytoRelaxer has been proven to be very gentle, if there are any "tender" areas (scalp abrasions, irritation, redness, pimples, etc.), apply pre-care balm to those areas to act as an emollient burrier. Generally you don't want to further irritate a sensitive area, therefore, it may be best to treat the scalp condition with the appropriate products from the PhytoSpecific and Phyto lines or discontinue service until the scalp is healthier.

Yes, according to a "root application" or "touch up" procedural method. PhytoRelaxer is compatible with all relaxers -except thio based relaxers. Overlapping relaxers is not recommended when using PhytoRelaxer or any other relaxer.
It's not recommended to use PhytoRelaxer or non-thio relaxers (Sodium, Lithium, Potassium, Calcium Hydroxides) over hair previously treated with thio based products (Japanese or Thermal Reconditioning).

Yes. The hair needs to be properly neutralized (returned to its natural Ph range). When neutralizing your hair, do not compromise on product. Use as much product as necessary to neutralize the hair. Ideally, leave the first neutralizing shampoo on the hair 3-5 minutes, rinse and repeat until neutralized. For best results and proper neutralization, the Neutralizing Cleansing Emulsion must be used according to directions.

Yes. The inductor acts as the activator when mixed with the PhytoRelaxer complex. Once you mix the products let them sit for 3-5 minutes for the ingredients to activate completely. You may apply the pre-care balm in the mean time.

It is recommended not to compromise on product in the first application and the use of one kit should be expected. It also depends on hair's length and thickness. However this may vary depending on the hair's length and volume.

No. Once the ingredients are mixed, any leftovers should be discarded. If a touch up application is performed mix half of the relaxing cream and the inductor index 1 or 2 in a separate plastic or ceramic bowl. Follow the measurement lines indicated in the containers. Do not mix in metal bowls or with metallic instruments. Close the containers of the remaining products and store in a cool dry place.

Generally the hair is relaxed approximately every 6 to 8 weeks depending on new growth, the texture, the condition of the hair, and your desired outcome. Due to the varying degrees of curl formation, tightly curled hair may be relaxed more often (every 6 to 8 weeks) in comparison to lightly curly curled hair (every 3 to six months). For touch up application one inch of new growth is recommended.

PhytoRelaxer should never be used on highlighted, bleached, or henna treated hair or on hair dyed with products containing metallic substances.

| | 28. I need to color my hair, should I do this before or after relaxing it?
If you applied a permanent color, wait a few weeks before relaxing your hair. For optimal results see a professional hairstylist to evaluate the condition of your hair. The hair maybe colored the day of the relaxer ONLY if the hair color product does not contain any ammonia or peroxides. A semi permanent color or a color wash without ammonia or peroxides is a good choice. Do not relax if you colored or will color with henna based products.

Whenever the hair has been treated with relaxers, perms or colors, it is more fragile. Use Phytomist for a leave in treatment to finish the hair. For a cream emollient, use a small amount of PhytoSpecific Moisturizing Styling Balm. Once dried, Phytolaque Soie is an excellent finishing spray to add shine and hold without drying the hair.

It is important to touch up the hair that has not been relaxed (new growth). To overlap may cause damage from breakage to irregularities in the outcome of your procedure. Use a small amount PhytoSpecific Revitalizing Treatment Oil to previously treated hair to act as a pre-relaxer treatment and protectant to the hair shaft.

The hair should not be shampooed within 72 hours of PhytoRelaxer. This will ensure that the hair is naturally protected with the hair's natural oils. Generally the hair should be shampooed one week to 72 hours prior and post relaxing with a deep condition treatment.

No. After the PhytoRelaxer or any relaxer application the hair structure has been modified, therefore, it is sensitive. Our company does not recommend pressing a recently relaxed hair.
